Corner Wall of old Fort Deseret
Corner Wall of old Fort Deseret
Description:

The old fort proved its worth when Chief Blackhawk and his band appeared, stole some cattle and threatened the community, but could make no inroads against the fort; that was in the spring of 1866. Shortly afterwards, peace was negotiated, and shortly after that the community of Deseret was abandoned, not because of conflict, but because of persistent flooding of the Sevier River; almost constant work was required to maintain the diversion dam. The town was resettled in 1874.
