Scintillation Table from Cosmic Ray Telescope
The Telescope Array is one of the premier research facilities in high energy physics. It is located west of Delta on our West Desert where our night sky is dark and conducive to this type of research. It is funded by an international group of universities and research institutes with the University of Utah as the host institute. The objective is to learn about cosmic rays, especially those of very high energy levels. The Telescope Array consists of three telescope fluorescence stations and over 500 scintillation detectors spaced 3/4th mile apart. Both systems work in conjunction to detect particle showers which result from cosmic rays striking molecules in our earth’s atmosphere.
